Jean Lannie Award

Jean was the Andover Family Learning Project Co-ordinator (this was the beginnings of where we are today) and was always encouraging and motivating people to reach their potential. She died on 11th September, 2007 after a short illness, and we decided to present an Award each year in her honour to someone who Jean would have seen as a worthy winner.

This year it has been awarded to Jerry Corlass, who has proved to be reliable, conscientious and fully committed to achieving his qualifications to help him find employment. He is also keen to help others by becoming a volunteer helper now that he has achieved his Level 2 Literacy and should achieve his Level 2 Numeracy by next June. He is also attending IT and is a pleasure to teach. He had 100% attendance on last year’s Numeracy Course and only missed 2 sessions on the Literacy Course. These courses started in September 2010 and finished in July 2011.

Jerry has completely turned his life around and we have a lot of respect for him. We are delighted to say that he is very deserving of the Jean Lannie Award and that Jean would have been extremely proud of all that he has achieved with Andover Adult and Family Learning so far.

Congratulations, Jerry.
